LOCAL ATTRACTIONS #37: THE NATIONAL GALLERY OF IRELAND

The National Gallery of Ireland has been open to the public since 1864 and houses over 2,000 painting and more than 10,000 other works and artefacts.

While the Gallery is home to every major European school of painting (including works from renowned artists such as Caravaggio, Monet & Picasso), the National Gallery of Ireland experience is greatly enhanced by the many works from Ireland’s finest artists throughout the centuries. These works include Ireland’s most favourite painting “Hellelil and Hildebrand, the Meeting on the Turret Stairs” by Frederic William Burton. Viewing the works from Irish painters and artists gives you a unique insight into Irish culture and the works from such talented individuals.
